Head of Data Science

A powerhouse within the financial software industry is looking for a Head of Data Science to join their team in London on a 12 month contract with the option to work remotely twice each week.

The team has an exciting strategy to execute and as Head of Data Science you will play a key role in bringing this strategy to life while managing a very talented Data Scientist, cross functional stakeholders (Product development, XD, PM) and agencies.

What does Success look like?

Success also includes being able to communicate complex data concepts to stakeholders and colleagues in a clear and concise manner.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage a data scientist and external agency.
- Provide the UK leadership on AI strategy and education on data science best practices.
- Work with global partners across the wider AI Intuit community to execute projects for the UK.
- Perform hands-on data analysis and modelling (leveraging large volumes of data)
- Create model data pipelines: discover data sources, clean them up, and make them "model-ready".
- Pursue data quality, troubleshoot data issues, and provide resolutions when needed.
- Run A/B tests, gather data, perform statistical analysis, and draw conclusions on the impact of your optimisations.

Skills / Experience Required
- BS/MS in quantitative fields such as Computer science, Business, Math, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Proficient in programming languages and stats packages such as R or Python.
- Efficient in SQL, Hive, SparkSQL, etc.
- Experience managing and/or mentoring data scientists.
- Confident with machine learning techniques and advanced analytics (e.g. regression, classification, clustering, decision trees, time series).
- Excellent communication skills and ability to learn fast.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and end-to-end quantitative thinking.
- Strong organisation, time management and task prioritisation skills.
