Yard Assistant

Builders Merchant Company Ltd is an independent merchant with 4 branches across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, with ambitions for future growth and development of further branches. We are a fast paced, heavily energetic company with a drive and determination to succeed. The company has grown from 1 branch to 4 over the last 5 year period, tripling its turnover in the process, and was recently voted as the ‘New Merchant of the Year 2020’ by the Builders Merchant Journal.

As a result of our continued growth we are seeking a Yard Assistant to join the team, to assist with the day to day operational running of our Hull Branch. The role will consist of many different aspects, ranging from assisting the customers with all of their needs, helping load and unload delivery vehicles, and preparing and packing goods ready for dispatch. Other duties may include small deliveries to sites/customers in a flat bed vehicle.

**Duties to Include**:

- Loading and unloading the wagon using the on site forklift
- Dealing with account customers and the general public in a polite and courteous manner
- Loading and unloading suppliers and customers, both with the forklift and manually
- Checking delivery notes and customer tickets
- Good housekeeping in the yard and warehouse areas
- Elements of manual lifting
- Possible deliveries to site

Branch opening hours: 42.5 hours per week - 07.30-17.00 Monday to Friday with alternate Saturdays 7.30-12.00. Overtime paid at 1.25x. 24 days annual leave + bank holidays.

Applicant must have a full UK Driving License and an in date fork truck license. Must be of smart appearance, have a pleasant and friendly manner, and have a flexible working attitude.
