**About the Opportunity**

AXIOM is one of the DSA alliance partners and is an unincorporated Joint Venture (JV) made up of four major engineering contracting companies each with complementary capabilities and skills. The members have excellent nuclear pedigrees, demonstrated expertise and effective track records across the UK nuclear fleet and related nuclear industries.

AXIOM provides process, mechanical, civil structural and architectural, electrical, instrumentation, control and safety capabilities to support Sellafield Ltd.

As well as having a large, dedicated team working for Sellafield Ltd, each has immense reach-back capability into parent organisations for knowledge, expertise and innovations gained from within, and external to, the nuclear industry. Examples of other markets include Oil and Gas, Environment, Mining and Aerospace.

You will be joining a large existing team that clearly understands the different requirements for optioneering, solution inspired, design decommissioning, operating plant asset care, infrastructure and new builds.

The Fire safety specialist will be responsible for providing building fire safety strategy and nuclear fire safety assessment and advice.

**Responsibilities**:

- Safety case activities to be undertaken in compliance with SLP 2.17.02.
- Identify and deliver a proportionate scope of building fire safety strategies and nuclear fire safety activities for the DESF NNL Transfers Project.
- Manage own time and work, delivering to time and schedule including immediate/urgent unplanned requests from safety case and design teams.
- Communicate fire safety assessment findings and advice to relevant parties and stakeholders.

**Here’s What You’ll Need**:

- Previous experience as a fire safety specialist in appropriate high hazard industry setting managing delivery of fire safety assessments.
- Experience and understanding of Safety Case, Projects, Design Engineering and Commissioning processes and methods.
- Experience and understanding of UK regulatory environment and relevant legislation - HASWA, Management of H&S at Work Regulations, Nuclear Installations Act, IRR.
- Experience of dealing with internal and external stakeholders and regulators.
- Ability to plan and manage defined work scope effectively.
- Good working knowledge and understanding of the Sellafield Ltd site, hazards posed, organisational structure, and processes.
