Location: City of London

Position Type: Permanent, 35 hours per week

Hybrid: 4 days in the office, 1 day working from home

Job Purpose:
Assisting the Underwriting team with the management and administration of the London Liability account.

Key Responsibilities:

- Logging new business enquiries and renewals into the Underwriting Quote Engine
- Issuing renewal letters / claims experiences/reports on behalf of underwriters
- Processing and issuance of policy documentation
- Processing of declaration adjustments including liaising with solicitors to collect unpaid premiums
- Management of surveys on behalf of underwriters (new and existing risk surveys)
- Assisting with the monitoring of broker binding authorities, and the processing of delegated underwriting monthly bordereau’s
- Dealing with account queries and liaising with the PAS team, accounts, brokers, cover holders, underwriters and other internal staff
- Liaising with claims personnel and responding to requests for information
- Monthly reporting of Contract Certain policy counts to Compliance
- Scanning and uploading documents to files
- Answering incoming telephone calls from brokers
- Under the supervision of Senior Underwriter / Underwriting Manager handling new Liability enquiries, renewals, mid-term amendments and referrals under delegated authority arrangements (expected to achieve own underwriting authority within a maximum of two years)
- Attending broker / client / coverholder meetings and events where required
- Collation of information to facilitate the monitoring of the performance of the Liability account
- Undertaking specific ad-hoc projects as and when required
- Attending in house / external training sessions and actively maintaining own training record
- Assisting with marketing activities as and when required
- Assisting other departments within the Professional Risks Division where required

Performance Objectives:

- Demonstrate good communication. Liaising internally with Underwriters, management, and other teams within the company.
- Be able to confidently use the underwriting system and understand its functionality (training will be provided).
- Take minutes for the underwriter team meetings.
- Be able to follow underwriting guidelines.
- Integrate and be a team player.

Skills and Experience Specification:
Essential:

- Minimum 3 ‘A’ levels at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Good organisational skills
- Good communication skills
- Strong negotiating and business/relationship development skills
- A high level of IT literacy, including Word and Excel

Desirable:

- Experience of working within a similar role
- Relevant insurance qualifications (CII) or currently working towards
