An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Cellular Pathology based at Lincoln County Hospital for a suitably qualified individual to join our team of Biomedical Scientists. The department has a reputation for service innovation and improvement, we are looking for a motivated individual to join us to support ongoing service developments.

The Path links Cellular Pathology Department is a centralised service based at Lincoln County Hospital delivering a diagnostic service for both Lincolnshire NHS Trusts which includes five main Hospital sites.

The post holder will be required to participate in all aspects of the laboratory rota including specimen dissection, diagnostic cytology preparation, paraffin wax histology, Immunocytochemistry, special staining and digital slide scanning.

The department operates from 08:00 to 19:00, weekend working will be required on a rotational basis once the relevant competencies have been achieved. The ability to work at other Path Links sites will be required on occasional basis.

Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) is mandatory for practicing BMS staff excepting Trainees who must complete state registration on completion of their registration portfolio.

Pathology services are provided by our Path Links network, with the main sites located at Grimsby, Scunthorpe, Lincoln, Grantham and Boston

**Key duties include**:

- Perform routine and specialist investigations in accordance with Path Links Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- The accurate analysis of samples using specialist instrumentation or manual techniques.
- Operation of accurate measuring equipment
- Assist the department in maintaining UKAS accreditation.
- Perform routine maintenance on complex, high value laboratory equipment
- ‘Trouble shoot’ problems that arise during the course of the working day and rectify them, or seek appropriate assistance.
- Deliver practical training to MLA, BMA, Trainee and Registered BMS's.
- Act as mentor to trainee BMS staff.
