**An unorganised production plan would never happen on your watch....**

Your new boss (The Production Manager) has identified that he needs you as Production Planner to join him on his mission to ensure a smooth production process and eliminate bottle necks.

An ERP system was introduced about 5 years ago but, it's the last year that they have really discovered its power

You know as production Planner that unless everything is captured accurately right at the beginning by the order entry team or through shop floor data capture, the data that is pushed through to the Scheduling System, will have holes in it, that's whereyou come in....

The ERP system has its place, it has been configured to recognise elements of the operation from the job card, it can allocate to machines and people, but we aren't quite ready for AI yet, you still need to check everything that's pulled through, ensuringit matches real time.

You look at what machines are available, what operators are available, is the right raw material allocated, if it's being subcontracted for part of the process, when and how long will that take, and when it comes back what happens to it?

You don't need to be an expert in machining capabilities and times, but you do need to have an understanding of the manufacturing process, if you have worked for a manufacturer of machined components this would be ideal.

You know as Production Planner the importance of getting everyone within that production process "onside" your office is on the shop floor and you share it with a team of 3, you are always in close proximity to what is going on with the manufacturing process,so that you can physically see that the right order is on the right machine, you won't always be popular when you are changing things and prioritising jobs but comes with the territory.

A production control plan can be like a house of cards, one card isn't in the right place and the whole thing falls apart, but not on your watch
There has been huge investment into lean processes within this business, they have an allocated space where the team share their ideas, it's not just down to the senior leaders, your ideas are listened to here.

Let me tell you a bit about the company.... They have been on a journey over the last 5 years, have gone from a family run SME to being acquired by a group of businesses whilst still retaining their core staff and core values.

They have 70 members of staff and are currently at 6 million turnovers, they supply machined components into a variety of industries both in the UK and overseas, and are going from strength to strength in an expanding market.

The core hours are 8-4 Monday to Friday but due to the shift operations if you are an early bird or a night owl this could suit as they will be flexible. Salary of £30k-£35k
- your benefits package will include 24 days holiday plus stats and enrolment ontothe company pension.
