**This role will involve conveying Residents across locations so a driving license is essential.**

This role can be both physically/emotionally demanding, and you must have the confidence and patience to deal/manage with the challenging behaviours that young people can present, applicants must be prepared to work with challenging behaviour. However, the role is also extremely rewarding and you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of the young people in your care.

The role is based at our residential homes in Darlington. Our Residents have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, which can involve complex diagnoses including autistic spectrum conditions.

**You will need to deputise in the absence of the Head of Care as and when required. You will also be on required to be on call approximately every 3 weeks.**

You will supervise a team of Residential Support Workers to implement the daily operational needs of a safe residential house whilst ensuring there is a high quality of care and appropriate levels of supervision for our Residents in accordance with the agreed holistic care plans and risk assessments in place for each Resident. Our Residential Support Worker’s main purpose is to support and facilitate the student’s holistic needs, care, wellbeing, learning and development to enable their growth in confidence and social independence in a multi-disciplined, dynamic environment. This includes their home and within the wider community. You will input into the preparation of care plans and progress reports for our Residents and provide formal supervision for the Residential Support Worker Team

**The key duties of this role will include**:

- Supervision of Residential Support Workers to implement the daily operational needs of a safe residential house whilst ensuring there is a high quality of care in a homely environment and appropriate levels of supervision for the young people in residence.
- Input into the preparation and implementation of PBS plans of the young people and their progress reports, keeping accurate and high-quality records.
- To be line manager for a number of Residential Support Workers, providing induction, training and formal supervision for residential support workers in their team.

**We would be keen to hear from applicants with**:

- A QCF level 3 in Care or equivalent qualifications and a supervisory/ team leading qualification and experience of first line management is desirable.
- Ideally, you will be an experienced support worker who has worked in a residential setting and/ or worked with children and young people with challenging behaviours.
- You may be required to provide personal care; therefore, it would be beneficial for you to have experience of this as well as medication handling experience.
- You will have excellent communication skills, as well as experience of report writing and record keeping.
