Our client a UK forwarding and customs clearing company is currently looking for an experienced Import Clerk to join their team in Suffolk.

Your role as the Import Clerk will be to handle all aspect of deep-sea imports on a start-to-finish basis. You will be planning loads, sending load lists to agents, and Checking manifests once received.
**Other duties of the Import Clerk will include**:

- Receiving pre-alerts from overseas agents
- Dealing with Customs entries using CDS / CHIEF
- Creating files both manually and on the computer system
- Advising customers of arrival of cargo into the UK
- Receiving and checking relevant import documentation and passing on to shipping lines
- Liaising with overseas agents, hauliers and customers on a daily basis
- Charging files
- Passing purchase invoices and dealing with any queries

The successful Import Clerk will have a minimum of 2 years’ Seafreight Import experience and knowledge of air imports.
**Knowledge / experience required for the Import Clerk:
**- Previous experience using CHIEF / CDS
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong date entry skills
