Kitchen Assistant

**Overview**:
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to assist in the preparation, cooking and serving of meals while maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen environment within an Early Years Centre.

**Duties**:
Hours are 10:00 - 14:00 daily

**Duties**:

- Supporting the cook in preparing, cooking and serving meals
- Delivering drinks and meals to activity areas around the centre
- Washing crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils either by hand or in a dishwasher and cleaning kitchen appliances where appropriate
- Taking note of when stocks of provisions need ordering and referring to cook so orders can be placed
- Taking reasonable care for the safety of all cleaning machines
- Having ay to day contact with clients of the establishment, being sensitive to their needs and reporting any concerns to senior officers
- Providing cover for the cook in the event of absence
- Undertaking any other such duties within the centre, that are in line with nature of the job and grade

**Required**:

- Experience working in a kitchen environment
- Knowledge of basic health and safety and food safety
- Knowledge of food hygiene and food safety practices
- Knowledge and ability to prepare, cook and serve meals
- Ability to maintain a clean, healthy and organised environment
- Knowledge of stock control
- Ability to wash crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils
- Ability to work as part of a team

**Job Types**: Part-time, Temporary contract

Pay: £15.00-£18.50 per hour
