Head of Vocational and Community Learning
2 weeks ago
Are you passionate about helping young people and adults with disabilities to gain skills, knowledge and confidence through innovative programmes of community learning and work placement activities?
Join National Star as our new Head of Vocational and Community Learning Programmes and lead a team of professionals working to achieve this.
You’ll be responsible for creating practical, individualised learning programmes for our learners to help them gain the skills they need for their growing independence and the world of work. National Star has an excellent track record of helping students to gain employment after college. With your leadership this work will continue. This role also encompasses our LIFT travel training programme, supporting people with disabilities across the country along with Community learning opportunities in Gloucestershire.
You will use your seasoned management skills to manage a large team, motivating them to deliver a quality provision that meets the needs of learners. It goes without saying that you will be able to network outside National Star, flying the flag for National Star students, as you build strong working relationships with potential employers and work placement providers.
It’s expected that you will have a teaching qualification and it is desirable for you to have knowledge and experience of using the RARPA framework. An Internal Verifier qualification would also be helpful for the role.
This is a demanding, busy role where excellent planning and organisational skills will be used on a daily basis. You will need to manage conflicting priorities to meet tight deadlines and be a positive role model at all times.
Interviews will held on Thursday 22nd June.
**How to apply**
Please note that all applicants will be expected to undertake a DBS Disclosure, and undergo the necessary employer checks. The level of disclosure to be applied for will be dependent on your job role and will be discussed with you during the recruitment process but is usually an enhanced level. Where appropriate, the adult and child barred lists will be checked and we will not employ anyone who appears on either of those registers.
