Are you passionate about Public Libraries and their place at the heart of local communities? Would you like to help our libraries do more and maximise their potential?

Bristol Libraries are keen to encourage local people to volunteer to help run all sorts of activities in their local libraries for the benefit of our communities. These activities include, but are certainly not limited to, supporting the Summer Reading Challenge, running Lego and Code clubs and helping out at numerous events and activities.

Bristol Libraries are looking for a Volunteer Coordinator to job-share with the current postholder for 18.5 hours a week until they return to the role full time at the end of a secondment in March 2025.

You will be key to developing and delivering our volunteering strategy as part of our fantastic, hard-working, supportive Reader Engagement Team. You’ll need to be organised, have excellent attention to detail as well as be a people person.

**Key tasks include**:

- To recruit and coordinate volunteers across Bristol Libraries and to be an advocate for the importance of volunteering with libraries.
- Develop new volunteering opportunities to deliver increased community involvement.
- Work with other organisations who are already working with BCC in the development of volunteering.
- Deliver training, guidance, support and advice to volunteers, community groups and staff who supervise volunteers.
- Ensure policies and procedures are in place and adhered to in order that volunteering within the library service is safe and inclusive.

**This role requires an Enhanced DBS Check.**

**For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.**
