**Assistant Buyer (Sustainability)**

**Greater Manchester - Hybrid Working**

**£23,000 - £27,000 plus excellent benefits**

Do you work in Buying or Procurement and have an interest in sustainability?

Due to their ongoing commitment to sustainable procurement my client is looking to expand their innovations team with the appointment of an Assistant Buyer.

Reporting to the Innovation Buyer, the role will support in the procuring of innovative and sustainable products, whilst also assisting with key projects relating to legislative changes and wider sustainability initiatives across the UK retail division.

Key Accountabilities:
Work closely with the Innovation Buyer and the procurement team to agree buying strategy for the portfolio of product innovations and sustainable alternatives, to help drive attainment of shared cross-functional targets and to ensure agreed policy is implemented.

Support the procurement team in identifying and tracking opportunities for sustainable alternatives.

Deliver sales and profit growth against agreed targets.

Support the sourcing and delivery of new product development and innovation. Research new developments in materials, products and services which are potentially relevant.

Understand market and customer trends and ensure that product procurement and placement reflects these trends accurately and ahead of time.

Develop a strong understanding and knowledge of sustainability requirements to ensure the business is a market leader in this space.

Achieve/exceed target procurement prices, rebates and marketing support whilst constantly dealing with suppliers in an upfront, honest and mutually beneficial manner.

Be able to create and deliver professional presentations to internal and external stakeholders, giving a compelling offer for our products, expertise and service.

Ensure that all customer enquiries and tenders receive timely responses, including all required information, in order to secure the business.

Ensure continuity of product supply at an acceptable quality level. Working with suppliers and supply chain colleagues to rectify any subsequently identified issues.
