Robert Half are working with an established Charity in central Cardiff to recruit an interim Financial Controller for an initial 3 month contract.

**Salary**: £55,000 - £65,000

**JOB SUMMARY**:
To manage the charities finances to ensure a continuous and sustainable service is delivered to the people they support.

To manage the Senior Finance Officers to ensure:

- That transactions are accounted for effectively and efficiently.
- To understand and explain the consolidated analysis and reports to financial performance.
- To work with the Project, Systems and Training Senior Officer to support continuous improvements and finance training.
- Work with the Finance Director to produce consolidated budgets, forecasts and analysis and reporting, including statutory and management accounts and liaise with external bodies such as the auditor and external bodies such as FCA, Companies House and CharityCommission.

**MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**

The post holder is responsible for working as part of a team to manage the finances of the business.

**Senior Management**
- Attendance at Senior Management Team Meetings and work with all SMT members to manage the business. In particular, representing the financial implications of business and decision-making.
- Write and present reports for the SMT and Board of Management.
- Support the Finance Director, working strategically, having input into business strategy for the whole organisation and contributes to the direction of the business through input into the strategic and business plan.
- Support the Finance Director to achieve the goals of the Finance Strategy.

**People Management**
- Manage the Senior Finance Officers; planning and prioritising workload so that resources are efficiently and effectively deployed.
- Have regular one to one meetings and an annual appraisal meeting with Senior Finance Officers to manage individual performance.

**General Accounting**
- Ensure the Senior Finance Officers oversee transaction processing effectively and efficiently in a timely manner in order to meet internal and external reporting deadlines.
- To work with the Project, Systems and Training Senior Officer to ensure that day to day and monthly reporting and controlling processes are robust and effective, with appropriate internal controls in place.

**Housing Benefit and Appointeeship Management**:

- Oversee the Senior Finance Officer responsible for housing benefit and appointeeship administration.

**Budgeting and Forecasting**
- Support the Finance Director in budgeting and forecasting.

**Consolidated Analysis and Reporting**
- Support the Finance Director in cashflow forecasting.
- Work with the Finance Director to produce consolidated statutory accounts and liaise with external bodies such as the auditor and external bodies such as Companies House and Charity Commission.
- Work with the Finance Director to produce consolidated management accounts.

**Continuous Improvement**
- To work with the Project, Systems and Training Senior Officer to support continuous improvements.

**Finance Training**
- To work with the Project, Systems and Training Senior Officer to support finance training.

**GENERAL**

In carrying out the above activities, the post holder will:

- Seek to improve their own performance, knowledge and skills and contribution to the organisation.
- The post holder is expected to carry out their duties in accordance with all business Policies and Procedures.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of all Policies and Procedures.
- Carry out other relevant work as Directors and Managers may require.
- The post holder is expected to work as part of a team and on their own initiative.
