Reed recruitment have been approached by a specialist provision in West Cardiff seeking learning support assistants to work with pupils with special educational needs (SEN), between the ages of 3 - 19 years old.

As a teaching assistant for children with autism and additional learning difficulties, you will be responsible for providing support to the teacher in the classroom and helping students with their academic and personal needs.

Your tasks may include:

- Assisting with the planning and preparation of lessons and materials
- Supporting students with tasks such as reading, writing, and math
- Providing one-on-one or small group instruction as needed
- Monitoring student progress and communicating with teachers and parents
- Helping students develop social skills and manage their behaviour
- Assisting with daily living skills such as eating, dressing, and toileting

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong understanding of the challenges and needs of children with autism and severe learning difficulties. You should also be patient, empathetic, and able to adapt your approach to each student's individualneeds. The follow attributes are what we are looking for:
Patience: Working with children with autism and severe learning difficulties can be challenging, and it may take longer for them to understand and learn new concepts. It is important to be patient and understanding in order to help them progress at theirown pace.

Empathy: Children with autism and severe learning difficulties may have a harder time understanding and expressing their emotions. It is important to be able to understand and respond to their needs and emotions in a supportive and caring way.

Adaptability: Every child is unique, and you may need to adapt your teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of each individual student. Being flexible and open to trying new approaches can help you better support each student's learning and development.

Teamwork: As a teaching assistant, you will be working as part of a team, collaborating with the teacher and other staff members to support student learning and development. It is important to be able to work well with others and contribute to the team ina positive way.

Organizational skills: Managing the needs of multiple students can be overwhelming, so it is important to be organized and able to prioritize tasks. This may involve keeping track of student progress, scheduling one-on-one or small group instruction, andorganising materials and resource

**The role will be Monday to Friday, £70-80 per day (dependent on experience) term time only. This is a temporary, long term opportunity up until July 2023.**
