Animal Technician

This is a fixed term contract for 6 months.

All duties carried out will be in accordance with the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986.

**Basic Requirements**:

- Animal Care Qualification Level 2 or higher is required
- Previous experience working with animals in a laboratory environment
- Experience performing husbandry duties, cleaning, feeding, and health checking rodents
- Ability to carry out routine tasks and procedures under instruction and organise own daily tasks
- Self-motivated, flexible approach to work and to participate in weekend/cover rota
- Excellent communication skills
- Competency in use of standard office software
- Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent qualifications including Mathematics, English, and Science

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Be a member of the team carrying out day-to-day feeding, watering, cleaning, and general care of laboratory animals
- Make observations, keep accurate records, and input data into computer programmes
- Contribute towards the general cleaning and upkeep of the facility and monitor and record environmental conditions in specific areas as required
- Use equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
- Assist with other duties and responsibilities as required
- Commit to the rota for weekend and Bank Holiday cover for the unit
