We are responsible for the entire range of children’s education, health and social care services in all three boroughs. We use a Signs of Safety practice model and approach which ensures the voice of the child is at the heart of everything we do. The Education Welfare Service works with all schools and phases across the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead to improve and maintain good levels of school attendance. The service provides advice and guidance to schools, families, and young people in line with legislation relating to school attendance. Through data analysis, the service directs support and training to enact positive change and enhance the life chances for hard to reach children.

**This is a 24 month fixed term position which is available full-time at 5 days a week or part time at 4 days a week at term time only (38 weeks). Salary advertised will be calculated pro-rata.**

About the role

This exciting and rewarding role will promote school attendance and support pupils who are experiencing attendance difficulties and emotional related school avoidance. Through holistic approaches, multi-agency working and effective communication between the service, schools and families you will help to co-create support plans resulting in improved attendance for pupils at school.

Main purposes of the role;
- To be allocated to a number schools in RBWM as their allocated education welfare officer. To support the school with data analysis, strategies and signposting, as well as providing advice, guidance and support in line with attendance procedures and legislation
- Directly support young people and their families through trust and communication to provide interventions to improve school attendance
- To promote the importance of school attendance to all agencies working with children and young people

About you

To be an effective Education Welfare Officer you will need to be passionate about education and making a positive difference to the lives of children and young people as well as demonstrating the following;
- Have experience of working in an educational setting
- Be educated to A Level or equivalent
- Be emotionally literate and an excellent communicator, using all available communication tools
- Have a good understanding of school attendance procedures, legislation and guidance
- Have a high level of resilience, compassion, and empathy
- It is essential that you have a full driving licence and daily use of a vehicle.
- Full DBS.
