The Children’s Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 130 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We’re there for children, every step of the way.

This role sits within our Youth Impact Domain, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need support. Your role will be;
To carry out Return Home Interviews for young people reported missing in Newcastle, using motivational interviewing and assertive outreach approaches to effectively safeguard young people.

To carry a case load of children and young people and deliver intensive weekly Targeted Support sessions around, for example, peer influence, online safety and wellbeing.

Develop collaborative support and action plans and maintain accurate case recording.

To identify risks and needs of young people who go missing from home, using recognised Return Home Interview and exploitation risk assessment tools, wherever possible.

To liaise with families/carers and services to gather more information and recommend packages of support to children who go missing or are at risk of exploitation.

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our dynamic, ambitious team.

A key part of this role will be your ability to deliver the work of SCARPA (Safeguarding Children at Risk, Prevention and Action), thereby ensuring that children and young people (age 10-18) at risk of or affected by exploitation (Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE) and Child Criminal Exploitation (CCE) receive support, information, and services to meet their presenting needs.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

- Substantial relevant experience in working with children and young people at risk, from diverse backgrounds
- Experience of supporting young people who are facing complex and sensitive issues
- Experience of working with trauma-informed approaches
- Experience of advice or advocacy work with children and young people.
- Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.

The Children’s Society runs over 100 local services that help thousands of young people who desperately need our support, and we campaign to get laws and policies changed to make children’s lives happier and safer.

Every day we’re changing the lives of children in this country for the better - and with your help, tomorrow we can be there for even more.

**Interviews will be held on the week commencing 28th of February.
