Range depending on experience (PP32a) £35,099 to (PP35) £36,770 per annum

**About the Role**:
We have a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to join our Governance Team as a Data Protection & Governance Officer. The Data Protection & Governance Officer will be expected to:

- Provide specialist knowledge and support to the implementation of the Information Governance (IG) agenda, ensuring compliance with the legal and regulatory framework applicable to the Hospice.
- To take the lead role in ensuring that St Giles Hospice complies with the Data Protection Act 2018, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and the National Data Guardian security standards.
- To ensure the activities of St Giles Hospice reflect and embody the principles of data protection by design and by default.
- To support the Board of Trustees, the Executive Leadership Team and Heads of Departments in developing, embedding and maintaining corporate policies and procedures relating to IG compliance.
- As DPO, to hold and maintain the Policy Master List for the organisation and ensure that responsible owners are informed when policies are due for review, providing the IG perspective in the development of wider Hospice policies that have an ‘information sharing and handling’ component.
- To coordinate and analyse incidents and complaints from all non-clinical areas in collaboration with the appropriate Head of Department.
- To provide comprehensive executive support to the Head of Governance, Group CEO and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) in relation to governance and executive ELT matters, and maintain constructive relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.

Having a CQC rating of outstanding, St Giles Hospice is a registered charity providing high-quality medical and nursing care for local people living with cancer and other serious illnesses, as well as offering support for their families and helpers. Care is offered in a variety of ways according to the individual’s needs and are offered out in the community as well as from 3 sites, an Inpatient Unit at Whittington, Day Unit Facilities at Sutton Coldfield and Uttoxeter.
We receive funding from the NHS but primarily we rely on fundraising activities and legacies, together with trading activities, 21 Shops, Lottery and Other Trading to support our work. We employ 300 people across a broad range of roles; from direct patient care to fundraising and administration as well as support from 1000 volunteers to help us provide and support our services.
