Here at **HM Land Registry,** we have 4x **Test Engineer** positions available to join our Transformation and Technology directorate** **on a **full-time or part-time, permanent**basis. In return,**you will receive a competitive salary of** £29,484 per annum (Croydon £33,259. **There will also be a non-pensionable IT allowance of £4,609 after qualifying period or dependent on experience.

**The Test Engineer role can be based at any of the locations below**:
Croydon, London (region), CR0 2AQ : Plymouth, South West England, PL6 5WS

**About the role**

We are currently recruiting several **Test Engineers **to ensure the teams contain the right blend of skills, experience and knowledge to take our major transformation programme forward. These teams are at the heart of the move to a digital, data-driven organisation with the ambition to provide our customers with cutting-edge digital services.

As a **Test Engineer** you will contribute to ensuring the appropriate level of quality check is made, at the appropriate stages of the software development cycle. You will work with the team to ensure that testing is carried out and that quality issues are sufficiently considered during the development process.

This role may involve occasional travel which may include stays away from home and may include weekend work to provide support to live assurance testing during deployment to production.

**Key responsibilities as our Test Engineer**:

- Translating functional and non-functional requirements or user stories into documented and approved test plans and test cases- Collaborating with project team members and business representatives- Being responsible for development and maintenance of test data, test scripts and test environments- Refactoring tests as necessary to ensure maintainability and consistency- Reviewing test environments and processes to facilitate continuous improvement and maintenance of quality standards- Assisting with defining estimates of effort, risk and issues- Executing test plans during iterations / releases and provide regular updates on progress and quality- Creating and maintaining test documentation as required- Recording and tracking product defects, liaising with developers and Business Analyst for resolution- Working with the Test analyst and development team to produce a robust and comprehensive Quality Strategy tailored to each project
**What we are looking for in our Test Engineer**:

- Holds relevant IT Degree (or equivalent); and / or industry experience in testing- Experience in automated testing tools- Use of code repositories (e.g., GitHub)- Competent in at least one coding language- A logical approach to problem solving- Excellent written/verbal communication skills- The ability to work effectively within a team and deliver to timescales
