Trainee Financial Adviser

Chinnor, United Kingdom Candid Financial Advice Full time

We are seeking a highly organised and capable person with at least 10 years of solid workplace experience to retrain as a financial adviser.

We look after our clients’ pensions, savings and investments, so there is a large amount of responsibility and trust involved. Many clients come to us because they see Candid as a consumer champion; we have a strong reputation for always doing the right thing and providing faultless advice and service at well below the usual cost.

Traditional ‘sales’-based advisers do not fit our approach, so we are offering a salaried role with the potential for structured progression over a minimum 3-year period to become a qualified adviser.

Initially you will start as a Client Executive, learning the basics and supporting an adviser to look after clients on a day-to-day basis. This will range from acting as a client ‘ambassador’ to get things done quickly and efficiently, through to proofing letters and reports and liaising with fund management groups and life offices.

Provided you can demonstrate you have the right attitude, skills and determination over the first 12 months, we will then consider starting your progression towards adviser status. This will include extensive on the job training and support with exams.

Ideally you will have some financial services experience, but a good attitude comes first, and we will happily train the right person. Life experience is also important, so you’ll need to have at least 10 years of work under your belt, preferably in a professional environment. The role could also suit someone returning to work or looking for a second career after retirement.

Succeeding in the role will require bags of common sense, initiative, and good judgment. You need to like people, have an overdeveloped sense of doing the right thing and, at times, be tenacious and dogged to get the right result for our clients. Computer literacy, good organisational skills, a genuine empathy for people and excellent attention to detail are also a given.
