**Being a Governor is a great way to support the work of our educational services and your local community. The key functions of a School Governing Board are**:
- Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction
- Holding the head teacher to account for the educational performance of the school, college and its pupils, and the performance management of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance and making sure its money is well spent
This is a strategic rather than operational role and governors do not get involved in the day to day running of the school.

**The Link Governor for Safeguarding has specific responsibility for**:
- Ensuring that the school is compliant with safeguarding policies, procedures and the law
- Leading on the governance of safeguarding
- Ensuring that the school's safeguarding training regime is robust
We would be delighted to discuss the role in detail or answer any questions.
