- **Working Days**:_Initially 3 days per week (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) increasing to 5 days per week (Wednesday to Sunday including Bank Holidays).
- **Working Hours: 09:30 am to 17:30 pm**_

The Gilbert & George Centre is an exciting new gallery, due to open in Spring 2023 and located in the dynamic and vibrant area of Spitalfields, London.

Our mission is to further arts, architecture, heritage, and culture for the benefit of the public. We aim to achieve this, especially though not exclusively, by preserving the collections, archives and works of art created by Gilbert & George for the benefit and enjoyment of future generations.

**The Role**

The primary role of the Gallery Invigilator is to provide support with the daily operations of The Centre and to deliver the Arts Program to our Visitors. It is a very exciting opportunity to work in a gallery environment from inception. This is a vital role within our small, friendly team. Your work will be very much at the forefront of The Centre by providing a quality experience to our Visitors. The role also provides an essential support to the daily operations of The Centre. Full training will be provided.

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Visitor Services and Shop**:_

Ensuring that all our Visitors experience an interesting and enjoyable time at The Centre.

Welcoming Visitors, individuals and groups to the Gallery and dealing with enquiries face-to-face and/or via other communication channels.

Actively engaging with the public, providing information about all aspects of The Gilbert & George Centre, its facilities, current and future exhibitions, and events.

Supporting the delivery of tours and learning programme.

Assisting in the running of the onsite and online shop.
- **Exhibitions and Events**:_

Keeping well-informed of the day-to-day activities of The Centre.

Invigilating exhibition spaces, always ensuring the safety of the public and security of the art works and communicating any issues with the Operations Manager or Operations Assistant as and when they arise.

Providing support during The Centre’s special events (e.g., previews, talks) as and when required.

Providing support during the installation and deinstallation period as and when required.

**Your skills & experience**

**Essential**:
Excellent communication and customer service skills and the ability to positively engage with a diverse range of people.

Experience working well within a team, as well as on your own.

An ability to be proactive and support colleagues in daily tasks.

An interest in art.

**Desirable**:
Experience working within a similar role or in a gallery or museum environment is desirable, but not essential.

Knowledge of contemporary art.

Knowledge of the area surrounding the gallery.

Experience using online shopping tools and processing online orders is desirable, but all training will be provided.

Experience of handling art objects.

Awareness of Safety and Security procedures and adherence to them (essential training will be provided).
