This internship is only open to current University of Edinburgh PhD students who will be based in the UK for the duration of the internship.

We are looking for a PhD Intern to support the progress of strategic projects that will contribute to the growth and development of the Insights programme. A key career development programme within the University Widening Participation strategy.

**The Opportunity**:
You will focus on an engagement project work streams and work closely with the team of PhD interns to ensure that project progress is coordinated and clearly communicated. The project work streams are listed below. You will focus on the student engagement then broaden your work to include alumni engagement.

**Student Engagement **- To review the existing student engagement strategy and develop the strategy in order to identify points in a student’s journey into, through and beyond university where messages about Insights can be conveyed to students and former students.

**Alumni engagement **- contribute to the alumni engagement plan which aims to grow and strengthen alumni involvement in Insights. This includes work to ensure that alumni volunteers’ values are aligned with the aims of the programme and a range of data analysis and modelling work.

[Employ.ed for PhDs is run by the Careers Service in collaboration with university departments and Schools. It offers exclusive part-time internships at the University all year round.]

- Good organisational and time management skills.
- An interest in supporting students from a Widening Participation background.
- An interest in the role alumni relations can play in higher education to support strategic priorities.
- Desire to develop project management skills.
- Experience of working in a team to deliver a project.

Please, also note that you are only eligible for this opportunity if you are a current University of Edinburgh PhD student, who will be based in the UK for the duration of the internship.

The University will employ full-time PGR students for no more than an average of 9 hours per week across the academic year (as per its policy ), and you must make sure any employment complies with any visa or funding conditions you may have.

Should you be successful, you will require written confirmation from your academic supervisor that you can undertake the internship. We recommend that students discuss the internship with their supervisor, as well as with their employer, before applying.

On this occasion the University will not consider applicants requiring sponsorship for this role. International workers will therefore only be able to take up this role if they can demonstrate an alternative right to work in the UK.
