**We have an opportunity for a Trainee Assistant Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.**

**This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern. 37.5 hours over 6 days - requirement to support external training sessions at Teeside University.**

**_ The apprenticeship takes two years to complete, during which time you will be employed in a healthcare role whilst studying part-time for a foundation degree in Health and Social Care. You will work as an integral part of the clinical team to provide a high standard of patient centered care meeting the needs of patients, consultants and colleagues. Under the supervision of a Registered Practitioner, you will train and develop in implementing care for patients, contributing to the assessment of care needs and carrying out an agreed range of clinical procedures._**

**_ The apprenticeship is suited to healthcare support workers wishing to develop into Allied Health Professional roles, such as ODP. Physiotherapy and Radiography, and provides a range of learning modules to support your continuing personal and professional development._**

**_ Upon successful completion of this programme, you will achieve an FdSc Health & Social Care qualification. You may also have the opportunity to further develop your career by accessing a shortened degree apprenticeship in your area of specialism._**

**Applicants should meet the following criteria**:

- Maths and English language GCSE Grade at grade 4 / C or above or equivalent (e.g. Functional Skills Level 2)
- Some understanding or experience of healthcare - preferrably theatre based - would be preferred but not essential.

**Course Structure**:

- Core modules are studied by all, and a generic set of competencies are completed in a Portfolio.
- Each year, learners will study ‘Specialist modules’ that are specific to their chosen pathway: Health & Social Care (Nursing), Theatres, Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy) and Radiography.
- Modules will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams with the exception of one module per year which will be delivered face to face at university in order to consolidate clinical practice.
- The course provides a range of modules to support your continuing personal and professional development,

**Study Requirements**:

- 20% off the job training
- Block delivery structure

**Qualification Achieved**:

- Level 5 Healthcare Assistant Practitioner Apprenticeship
- Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care Practice

**Duties of this role include**:

- To work as an integral part of the clinical team to provide a high standard of patient centred care meeting the needs of patients, colleagues, and consultants. Your level of training and experience means you work under the direct or indirect supervision of the Registered Healthcare Professional.
- Support the team to deliver care that helps improve the health of the individual and wider community.
- Support the team in demonstrating compassion through effective relationships based on empathy, respect, and dignity.
- Develop own competence to deliver effective care and treatments through improving clinical/technical knowledge / skill, and expertise.
- Communicate appropriately with others involved in the care of the patient.
- Act as an advocate for safeguarding patients, demonstrate courage to speak up when there are concerns about care.
