**Job overview**:
This is a fixed term post based at Heartlands Hospital, with additional elective exposure at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The duration of the post is 6 months, extendable to 12 months depending on performance. This post requires the post holder to work at Specialist Doctor (Higher) level (Post CCT or equivalent) within general and colorectal surgery.
- and post-operative management of pelvic exenterations, cross-speciality team working, close involvement in multi-disciplinary team discussion and participation in an allied research project.

**Main duties, tasks & skills required**:
Post holder is responsible for the daily ward rounds, inpatient management and supervision of juniors. They will be responsible to the consultants of the team and entire colorectal firm. During emergency duties s/he will be responsible for reviewing the referrals, prioritisation of emergencies and emergency theatre management. Consultant on-call will provide supervision and support the post holder

- / post-CCT. Experience in surgery in United Kingdom is preferable but not mandatory. Endoscopy experience is desirable but endoscopy training can be provided in this post. Good communication skills and experience in management of general surgical emergencies are essential.
