We are looking for Highways Officers to join our team in Scarborough.

**Our Team**

Our Highway Operations Unit is responsible for the implementation of highway improvement and maintenance schemes, routine highway maintenance activities, delivery of the winter maintenance service, local network management and liaison with the public at a local level.

**The role**

We are delighted to offer this fantastic opportunity for those wishing to progress their career in the highways and transport department team building on a depth of practical experience delivering roadworks. As our Highways Officer you will assist the maintenance manager and improvement manager in managing client activities in the area, especially with regard to the safety of the highway network and the compliance with the county council’s works specification. As part of this role, you will complete safety inspections of the highway network including the maintenance of computer records, inspect and approve for sites for operations carried out under the highway authority, you will also complete inspections of developer funded road works in the existing highway and complete inspection of new roads funded by developers. In addition to this you will be working with the developer and his team to ensure the scheme is delivered to the appropriate standard and in a timely manner.

**What you will bring**

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has some technical background with highway construction/maintenance, however, we would welcome all applicants with civil engineering experience, as full training will be provided. You must have the ability to drive.
