Climate Change is the biggest risk we face. We are planning for future flood scenarios including a 4oC rise in global temperature and are working with government, local councils, businesses, civil society groups and communities to make our environment a better place for people and wildlife.
Field Operations protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets and responding to incidents.
This hands-on manual role involves:

- Leading and working together with a team being outside in all weathers.
- Coaching and mentoring Team Members increasing skills, knowledge and experience.
- Teams will use a variety of tools and equipment to carry out tasks such as small projects, operation of plant and equipment along with routine maintenance including grass and vegetation management.
- Providing response to flood and environmental incidents inside and outside of normal working hours by participating, training and exercising. Deploying sandbags,, mobile pumps and pollution equipment.
- Carrying out regular checks and inspections of equipment, such as tools, personal protective equipment and vehicles.
- The team- The team is based at our Tolgus Redruth Depot.
Our field teams protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets and responding to incidents.
Field teams have a range of technical skills they use to deliver watercourse maintenance, along with asset maintenance and construction projects. The team handle a variety of specialist plant and equipment.
They support the prevention or mitigation of incidents day and night.
- Experience/skills required
- You must have a positive, adaptable approach and a ‘can do’ attitude and be a committed team player. You will be well organised, keeping your tools and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in excellent condition. Along with good communication skills to work with customers and partners, you will have good time management and be capable of working role modelling the behaviours required.

You'll demonstrate a good level of understanding or experience in all or some of the following:

- Health, Safety & Wellbeing awareness
- Vegetation management
- Use of power-tools
- Use of ride-on plant and equipment
- Legal requirements around the use of tools and equipment

Our work is completed using tablet computers therefore you will need to be competent in using this equipment.
