**About the Trust**

We deliver district general services to 2.5m residents of Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, and its surrounding communities. Our specialist services allow us to deliver care to 4.5m people from across the East Midlands and nationally for a handful of services. QMC is where our Emergency Department (ED), Major Trauma Centre and the Nottingham Children’s Hospital are based. It is also home to the University of Nottingham’s School of Nursing and Medical School. Nottingham City Hospital is our planned care site, where our cancer centre, heart centre and stroke services are based, and where some of our emergency admissions units are located. Ropewalk House is where we provide a range of outpatient services, including hearing services.

**What you’ll be responsible for**:

- Abstract and analyse relevant clinical data from a variety of manual and computerised sources, including digitised casenotes, laboratory reports and discharge summaries. Accessing clinical data on wards and patient areas where necessary and working independently with mínimal supervision.
- Ensure that complex clinical data regarding diagnoses and surgical procedures on patient episodes is coded using national (OPCS-4) and international (ICD-10) or any other classifications that may be implemented in the future adhering to all national standards and conventions.
- Input coded clinical information into the Trust’s patient information system in conjunction with a clinical encoder ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness at all times.
- Validate admission and discharge details to maintain accuracy of data and for the identification of missing and incorrect activity
- Liaise closely with the data quality team to ensure correct episode data on patient hospital system
- Identify and register new cancers for inclusion in the national Cancer Register

**You’ll have the following skills/experience**:

- Excellent communication skills
- both verbal and written
- Microsoft office skills
- Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
- Previous NHS experience
- ACC qualified with an up-to-date refresher
- Able to code a wide range of specialties inc. complex spells.
- Proficient in the use of 3M Medicode encoder
- at least 3 years experinece as a clinical coder
