Aes Tutor

**Contract type**: Variable Hours (Up to 25 hours per week) - Permanent

**Location**: Glasgow, University of Strathclyde International Study Centre

**Salary**:£32.28 per hour

You will work with colleagues across the Centre and on occasion across the Network to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our teaching, learning and assessment strategy and aims for an outstanding student experience.

Responsibilities include contributing directly to student support and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the Centre, as well as a commitment to CPD and keeping up-to-date with VLE technology

**ABOUT THE ROLE**
- Contribute to the design, delivery and development of modules offered by the International Study Centre at the University of Strathclyde.
- Prepare and deliver teaching on Face-to-Face and or Online/Blended programs including synchronous and asynchronous input for weekly tasks, live input, seminars/ tutorial sessions and drop-ins with a normal teaching load of up to 25 hours per week.
- Mark students’ formative and summative assessment submissions and provide timely feedback to students on their performance, including during one-to-one tutorials/ Learning Conversations and through regular student reports (usually RPAGs).
- Writing additional reports for sponsored students if and when required.
- Support the Head of English in designing, developing, updating and distributing course material for modules and teaching sessions as/if required.
- Develop and maintain module VLE pages for Standard Delivery, Blended Delivery and Online Delivery as required.
- Work with the Centre’s administration team in the delivery of induction, orientation and registration programmes.
- Notify and liaise with colleagues, where necessary, to ensure all students receive appropriate ongoing welfare and progression support.
- Track students’ academic journey, and identify and implement appropriate intervention strategies to support ongoing learning.
- Act as a Personal Tutor/ Learning Development tutor/ Skills for Success tutor for one or more groups of students if required.
- Take part in bi-termly Learning conversations with students offering progression and engagement guidance and support.
- Follow centre protocol and liaise with colleagues and line manager according to procedure in particular regarding compliance processes such as class timetabling, attendance and engagement monitoring.
- Implement quality assurance procedures at module and teaching session level, and contribute to the annual monitoring and review of courses.

**ABOUT YOU**
- Relevant Teaching Qualification: TEFL-I/ TEFLQ status such as CELTA/DELTA/Trinity Dip or equivalent, and/or MA in TESOL/TEFL/Linguistics.
- Extensive experience in teaching EAP
- Experience teaching in the UK Higher or Further education sector and preferably a teaching qualification and experience working with international students
- Familiarity with online/blended learning and VLE
- Experience in developing teaching materials
- Experience in assessment design and marking of student's academic work
- Experience in the provision of independent learning and/or online language learning
