**About The Role**

We are seeking a full-time Head of Finance to manage the finance function, reporting directly to the board. The role will oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reports, compliance with regulatory requirements, rigorous controls, and working with the board to develop the company’s strategic growth. In addition, the finance function takes responsibility for administration including IT and insurance. There is scope for the role to progress over time to Finance Director, playing an ever wider role in the management of the company.

**Key Responsibilities**

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

- Prepare accurate timely monthly management accounts and KPI reports.
- Report on forward order book, work in progress and retentions.
- Prepare annual accounts.
- Support the board in budgeting and forecasting.

Regulatory Compliance and Auditing:

- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements, in particular contract accounting.
- Ensure statutory returns are correctly filed for VAT, PAYE, CIS.
- Liaise with external auditors and coordinate the audit process.
- Mitigate and avoid risks to the company by designing, implementing, and reviewing internal controls and ensuring compliance with same.
- Coordinate with external tax advisors as necessary.

Cash Flow Management:

- Monitor and manage the organization’s cash flow.
- Manage accounts receivable and payable to ensure timely payments from our clients and to our suppliers.
- Support the board in making strategic capital expenditure decisions.

Operational
- Support project teams in preparing P&Ls and forecasts per project.
- Ensure robust process for evaluating risks in supply chain and customer credit.
- Oversee payroll.

Performance and strategy:

- Be proactive in margin and efficiency improvement across the business.
- Provide financial insights to support strategic business decision-making.

Team Leadership and Development:

- Supervise and mentor the finance team.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in financial operations.
- Foster a collaborative and efficient working environment.

Administration and IT
- Ensure a robust organised system for maintaining business critical files.
- Maintain and negotiate company insurance.
- Manage the relationship with the IT service provider.

**Qualifications**
- Qualified Accountant with significant experience.
- Experience of % Completion and Work in Progress.
- Experience of Construction is not essential but preferred.
- Experience managing direct reports.
- Proficiency in Xero and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
