**Mission and Main Objectives**:
To support the business on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues relating to manufacturing operations at the Sunderland Plant, as well as providing legal support on regional and global projects.

**Outline and Responsibilities**:
To assist Legal Manager and Legal Section Manager with ongoing legal work and responsibilities relating to the Sunderland Plant
To work closely with other members of the legal team as well as stakeholders from business divisions such as Purchasing, Engineering, Health and Safety, Environmental, Energy, Infrastructure and Real Estate, Finance, Quality Assurance, Customs, HR, IT/IS, Compliance and senior management
To draft, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts relating to the Sunderland Plant, which include:
Grant offer letters and consortium agreements
Supply of goods and services agreements (supply of parts, goods, maintenance etc)
Logistics agreements
OEM agreements, collaboration/partnership projects
Engineering and construction agreements (including standard form agreements)
Variation agreements, confidentiality agreements, side letters, heads of terms
Project agreements and related documentation (including on global and regional projects)
Outsourcing, IT/IS agreements
To work with internal and external specialist lawyers on specialist areas such as:
Property matters
Intellectual Property matters
Energy/utilities related contracts and issues
Regulatory issues, including environmental and health and safety matters
Employment, Tax and Customs related issues
GDPR/Data protection provisions
Corporate matters
To cooperate within the broader legal team and provide local legal advice in regional projects
To work on developing new templates and procedures
To provide legal training to the organisation
To manage external legal advisors and control external spend
To assist with management of the legal budget and panel of law firms
To provide legal support for ad hoc matters including third party claims and litigation
To support achievement of team/department objectives

Must be able to travel for business as required.

**Experience and Qualifications Required**:
Formal/Professional Education - A qualified solicitor/barrister in the UK. This role would suit a junior lawyer either in private practice or in-house (some prior in-house experience is highly preferable)
Experience and qualities
The ability to draft and negotiate a range of commercial contracts and the confidence to work autonomously (where appropriate) are essential
Excellent analytical, drafting and communication skills
Ability to balance customer expectations and commercial demands against any legal and regulatory risks
Enthusiasm and willingness to continuously learn and improve
Ability to work in an international environment with exposure to diverse backgrounds and cultures
Capacity to manage high workload
Resilience and ability to work under pressure
Flexibility to work in a changing environment
Good project management, conflict management skills
Must be able to prioritise tasks

IT Skills - Standard Microsoft office packages
Language skills welcome - fluency in English (written and spoken) essential

Minimum Education Required - 2:1 Bachelor’s Degree
