Job Description:
Locum Registrar in Paediatrics and Neonates (ST3 to ST8)
Key Responsibilities: Clinical Duties:
**Patient Care**:
- Provide comprehensive medical care to paediatric and neonatal patients.
- Perform detailed patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering appropriate investigations.
- Develop, implement, and review management plans for acute and chronic paediatric and neonatal conditions.
- Carry out essential procedures relevant to paediatrics and neonatology.
- Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and other clinical duties as required.
- Manage emergencies in the paediatric and neonatal units, ensuring timely and effective treatment.
**Collaboration**:
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, consultants, and allied health professionals, to deliver high-quality patient care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, providing clear explanations and support.
**Education and Training**:
- Supervise and provide training to junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in and contribute to departmental teaching sessions, case discussions, and clinical audits.
**On-call Duties**:
- Participate in the on-call rota, providing out-of-hours care for paediatric and neonatal patients.
- Ensure prompt and effective response to emergency calls and consultations during on-call periods.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records.
- Complete necessary documentation and reports in a timely manner.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to service development and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- **Education**:
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) recognized by the General Medical Council (GMC).
- Membership of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (MRCPCH) or equivalent.
**Training**:
- Completed or currently undergoing specialty training in paediatrics and neonatology, ideally within the range of ST3 to ST8.
**Certifications**:
- Valid certification in Neonatal Life Support (NLS).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) certifications are desirable.
**Experience**:
- Proven experience working in paediatrics and neonates, with a strong clinical background.
- Experience in managing a wide range of paediatric and neonatal conditions.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
Skills and Attributes:
- Excellent clinical skills and knowledge in paediatrics and neonatology.

- Ability to work under pressure and manage emergencies.
