The Assistant Practitioner Apprenticeship programme is an exciting opportunity enabling you to train to become a fully Registered Nurse through work-based learning. You will begin by completing a Level 5 Assistant Practitioner (Nursing) Apprenticeship (Foundation degree), progress to the Level 6 Registered Nurse Apprenticeship (Top-up Degree) before embarking on PG Dip in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visitor or School Nurse).

This programme combines multiple learning programmes into one, providing a direct pathway into SCPHN Nursing. You will not have to pay any university feeds and will earn a generous salary throughout the programme.

You will be paid at each level of your training in keeping with NHS Terms and Conditions of Service Pay.

Our clinical teams deliver many NHS services not only via inpatient and primary care setting but also with the community. These services include Children, Adult & Older Peoples mental & physical health, Forensic & Specialist mental health, Learning Disabilities, Primary Care & Liaison psychiatry, Substance misuse, Social care, Research & Development.

To undertake the Assistant Practitioner (Nursing) Higher Apprenticeship FdSc to develop the knowledge and skills required to function safely and effectively as an Assistant Practitioner within the 0-19 Healthy Child Programme through support, education and guidance of the Higher Education Institute and Practice.

Main

**Responsibilities**:
1. To attend all educational sessions as directed by the University, submitting assignments and reports promptly as requested.
2. To maintain a close liaison with the sign off Practice Assessor throughout the course and to agree a clinical learning programme which will facilitate and support theoretical learning and reflect the value of practice centred education.
3. Work within the agreed programme to achieve all objectives and competencies in the delivery of the appropriate Healthy Child Programme mandated contacts and progressive care delivery to the standard required. This will be under the supervision of the SCPHN qualified member of staff (Health Visitor and/or School Nurse)
4. To develop an awareness and involvement in the delivery of the complete 0-19 Healthy Child Programme with support and guidance from the Practice Assessor and Practice Supervisor.
5. Personal responsibility to identify and highlight any areas of concerns regarding progress and development both clinical and theoretical before these become problematic.
6. To be able to identify own area of professional and personal development.
7. Maintain all aspects of patient/client confidentiality in line with Caldicott Principles
8. Submit all claim forms promptly
9. Report absence and sick appropriately and promptly to the University and to Team Manager and Practice Assessor/Professional Lead
10. To arrange regular clinical supervision with Practice Assessor
11. To work as an independent practitioner when assessed as competent to deliver packages of care/mandated contacts.
