York Carers Centre is an independent charity supporting unpaid carers in York. Due to the expansion of our service, we are looking for a highly motivated and organised individual to join our friendly dedicated team, helping unpaid carers to maintain their health and well-being through the provision of information, advice, and support.

**The person**

Do you have experience of providing unpaid care for someone with mental ill health?

Do you feel you are in a position to use this experience to support others?

As a Carer Peer Supporter, you will provide one-to-one emotional support, information and advice to carers of people with mental ill health, alongside supporting regular group and hospital drop-ins for carers.

This is an exciting opportunity for people who have a genuine interest in using their previous experience to support others, who can work within the boundaries of confidentiality and can work effectively with a wide range of clients, to provide one-to-one emotional support and group work.

If you are able to advocate on behalf of vulnerable individuals and have knowledge of voluntary and statutory services, then you may be the person we are looking for.

**The role**

The role will involve flexible/hybrid working, including occasional evening work, travelling to and working from a range of outreach venues in the York area.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 16 months
Part-time hours: 22 per week

**Salary**: £22,627.00 per year
