Director Positioning and Construction Support

The role

We are seeking a Director to lead our Position and Construction Support team based in Aberdeen. As a leading provider of offshore positioning survey and remotely operated vehicles (ROV) services, we support the installation of drilling assets, offshore structures, wind farms, production facilities, pipelines and cables. By combining our integrated digital solutions, remote services and expert teams, we deliver an optimised solution that saves time and improves the safety of offshore operations.

Reporting to the Regional Business Line Director, you will be responsible for developing and delivering the short to medium term strategy for the service line in line with the global and regional strategies. Having full responsibility for the profit and loss of the service line, you will lead our Project, Client Deliverables and Commercial teams to deliver profitable growth for the business and improve safety culture.

Who you’ll be working with:
You will be a member of the Regional Service Line management team working alongside other Service Line Directors, and the Financial Controller. You will also be a senior local manager of the Aberdeen hub leading a team of direct and indirect reports.

Here’s what a typical day would be like:

- Deliver the Profit & Loss of the Service Line
- Interact with Regional Director, Regional Business Line Director and Global Service Line Directors on strategic issues, key clients and Capex decisions
- Approve / reject tenders as per Fugro authorisation matrix
- Plan, execute and realise the short-term strategic direction of the Service Line
- Drive client focus, marketing, business development and tendering activities for the service Defining product portfolio and pricing strategies.
- Overseeing the project management for all projects within the service line and driving delivery excellence.
- Direct and in-direct line management of the team including recruitment, promotions and career development.
- Drive innovation activities by providing first line R&D support for projects.
- Ensuring optimal deployment of people, locations and assets
- Continuously reviewing the service line activities and identifying service line development and growth opportunities.

Who we’re looking for:
Essential
- Degree educated (or similar qualification) or qualified by experience.
- Extensive people management experience
- Strong commercial awareness
- Fluency in written and verbal business level English language
- Extensive experience in a similar role, preferably as Operational / Business manager in a similar industry

Desirable
- Previous experience in a Senior Leadership role
- Experience in PCS or related Marine industry (survey, subsea, engineering)
- A degree in Marine Survey or Engineering supplemented with Business or Management
