Mid Yorkshire Hospitals is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic specialist Prison Midwife working with our existing specialist.

The post is 7.5 hours per week, remaining hours can be worked in either the inpatient or community setting.

The Specialist Midwife for Vulnerable Women in the Judicial System will work as a member of the Trusts Midwifery Team liaising with Prison Health services and related multidisciplinary services, including safeguarding, social services and mental health.

The Specialist Midwife will support all activities necessary to ensure that the maternity service meets its responsibilities to support vulnerable women using a non-judgemental and open approach in prison. They will ensure full collaboration with the appropriate agencies, services, supporting clinicians, guidance, education and training, that the appropriate pathways of care in place. The post holder will support developing robust education and training processes to assist midwifery and medical personnel in understanding the relationships within the multidisciplinary team and the impact of the women being in the judicial system on the delivery of care.

Approximately 5400 women choose to birth at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust. We provide antenatal intrapartum and postnatal care across the Wakefield and North Kirklee's.
