Broadcast Journalist - Welsh and English Speaker

**Reporting of the role**:
This role reports to Regional News Editor

**Overview of job**:
You’ll be producing exciting content for Global’s Newsroom bulletins on Capital, Heart, Smooth, LBC, LBC News, Classic FM, Radio X and Gold

When on desk, you will build high quality, relevant, timely and accurate local news content. You’ll help set the agenda daily across the region and assist with forward planning, ensuring regional stories are heard on our national news talk brand, LBC. You’ll also play a key role in any major news events in your region.

Working with the Regional News Editor you’ll help to handle the news operation in your local area, ensuring our bulletins reflect Global and OFCOM's guidelines for each particular brand.

**In the first few months, you would have**:

- Helped investigate and help build outstanding and best-in-class stories.
- Been stepping up and supporting the News Editor with the management of your regional news team.
- A great understanding of the region in which you are working and the key issues facing that region.
- Sourced, produced, and shared exclusive content with LBC, LBC News
- Developed a positive working relationship with your line manager and have clear goals in place

**Responsibilities of the role**
- You'll make sure that everything you and your colleagues do is aligned with legal and broadcast regulations, and consistent with Global's values and standards.
- Produce outstanding bulletins for local Heart, Capital and Smooth services which are creatively written, delivered and are OFCOM compliant.
- Seek, set up and interview relevant contributors for local and national services, understanding the importance of both audio and video to our output.
- Provide live and pre-recorded content for our national news brands LBC & LBC News.
- Supporting the Regional Deputy News Editor when the RNE is off or unavailable.
- Identifying and helping to train and support the next generation of hardworking broadcast journalists
- Supporting Work Experience placements, so they get the most out of their time at Global.

**What you will need**:

- You will have a relevant broadcast journalism qualification, and proven experience of broadcasting both live and pre-recorded news bulletins.
- You should be experienced at ‘on-location’ reporting, bulletin editing and online/digital production.
- You'll have an excellent presentation style and excellent voice, and be at ease presenting either pre-recorded or live bulletins that are OFCOM-compliant
- You should have a great understanding of the region in which you are working and the key issues facing that region.
- As well as helping with forward planning regionally, you'll be proactive in getting exclusive stories on air and online having been accomplished at reporting, desk editing and bulletin production.
- Excellent networking skills are required; relationships within Global and outside of the company are always key. You’ll assist in building, contributing, and developing effective contact databases
- You will be able to build outstanding news content that will appeal to our local and national audiences on-air and on-line.
- Be able to respond to changing situations and problem-solving under pressure, to ensure our output is always of the highest standard in all circumstances.
- You’ll have an excellent knowledge of media law and the OFCOM Broadcast Code.
- Fluent in Welsh
- News happens 24/7 - this isn’t a ‘normal’ office job and flexibility is key.
- A full clean UK driving licence is essential
