**Now let us tell you about the role**:
As a baler operator you will be responsible for using a variety of machinery to do tasks such as loading baled recycles into lorries, loading/unloading lorries of all waste streams and daily site work. The job role of a Plant Operative at a MRF will involve the following duties:
- Active plant & baler maintenance, belts, motors, greasing points
- Order all required components via the site manager
- Monitor for blockages and debris.
- Changing of wrap and string
- Ensure all plant sheets completed
- Ensure equipment and tools are safely stowed away
- Ensure all jobs logged in the Plant Maintenance Diary
- Ensure all tasks communicated and handed over between shifts
- Operate the baler machines on a daily basis.
- Undertake routine cleaning of the machinery and local area.
- Control the bailing process and keep re-baling to a minimum whilst looking for ways to improve the process.
- Provide feedback to the supervisors and process operators regarding bale quality.
- Ensure health & safety and environmental standards are upheld.
- Control the bale dressing procedure.
- Monitor stock of baling wire and report the levels to the assistant manager.
- Monitor dust extraction systems on a daily basis.
