Despatch Supervisor

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Deeside Despatch team.
You will be expected to ensure that all elements of the Deeside Despatch operation are supervised and co-ordinated in a clean, safe working environment, in order that goods arrive on to our customers in a safe manner, in line with customer requirements and/or company standards.
To respond to ever-changing customer requirements rapidly and ensure 99+% customer service levels are achieved.
**Keys Tasks & Responsibilities**
- Effectively co-ordinate and supervise the preparation of goods in time for safe transportation to customers, ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete and the most economical carrier service is used in order that goods are delivered in full, on time, in line with customer requirements.
- Ensure the accurate interpretation of sales orders and selection, counting/weighing, legibly identification, and appropriately packing of items safely for transportation to customers
- Where appropriate take opportunity to reduce transport costs by sending complete orders earlier on a cheaper carrier service.
- Highlight/resolve any issues/anomalies that there may be prior to packaging/despatch of customer order.
- Accurately record despatch information and generate the required despatch paperwork via company and carrier based IT systems (e.g. Movex, FedEx), ensuring documentation in kept a tidy and orderly manner.
- Competently operate a range of packaging / despatch lifting equipment. Load / unload vehicles via FLT or hand
- Promptly identify, check, put away/scrap any relevant customer returns and report via Movex
- Produce packaging specifications / estimates to enable collection to be arranged.
- Download FedEx despatch information via PC
- Liaise with external hauliers, regarding goods to be shipped, and collection dates.
- Ensure all equipment/work tooling is kept in a good state of repair. Any maintenance issues to be promptly reported.
- Highlight any item shortages or discrepancies as well as co-ordinating the replenishment of standard manufactured stocked items via the T-card system and inform relevant person in time to resolve issues prior to shipping.
- Inform Purchasing prior to substitution of stock.
- Lead despatch area in bi-annual stock-takes and undertake periodical counts when necessary.
- Ensure daily shift reports are completed including all relevant information regarding:H&S, Quality, People, Equipment, Service, Despatch / Site KPI’s etc
- Attend the Production Manager’s morning meeting to review daily reports and production / despatch plans
- Ensure a monthly report is produced and sent to the Production Manager containing all requested and relevant information.
- Maintain close working relationship with other supervisors to ensure all goods are available in time to be shipped on the requested ex-works date.

**Quality**
- Adhere to ABP quality procedure ensuring products are manufactured to an appropriate standard and products conform to specified tolerances or company tolerances where un-specified.
- Adhere to Leviat’s quality procedure: ensuring products are manufactured to an appropriate standard and products conform to specified tolerances or company tolerances where un-specified; ensuring goods are despatch in packaging fit for purpose and not over carrier set weights; ensuring all goods sent are supported with their relevant documentation (where required).
- Ensure level of work is performed to appropriate standards first time: ensure Despatch Operatives are picking the correct items relevant to the customers’ requirements and ensuring documentation is filled in correctly and in accordance to current standards.
- Report and investigate any non conforming work and take corrective action.
**Line Management**
- Ensure the despatch department and team are performing effectively, with an ongoing development of team members, to create an environment of learning, and to motivate individual’s to continuously improve through open & honest lines of communication.
- Effectively co-ordinate and supervise the preparation of goods in time for safe transportation to customers, ensuring that all necessary documentation is complete, the most economical carrier service is used in order that goods are delivered in full, on time, in line with customer requirements.
- Actively deliver any tasks / objectives set to you positively and enthusiastically.
- Establish clear and challenging production targets and monitor performance.
- Develop a flexible, competent team of staff and ensure individuals reach suitable competence levels.
