Overview of a Principal Planning Officer
Pertemps have an exciting opportunity within Harrow Council for a self-driven and motivated Planning Officer to join an expanding team. The role of Principal Planning Officer has a competitive pay rate of £45:00 per hour Umbrella/Limited.
Duties of a Principal Planning Officer:

- Supervision of case officers within the team on specific complex proposals.
- Negotiations with developers to achieve satisfactory proposals within the context of national, strategic and local policies, standards and guidelines, within statutory time constraints
- Liaison with other Sections within Planning Services, other Divisions within Regeneration and Planning, other Council Departments, and Government Departments in support of delivery of a high-quality planning service
- Direct line management of junior officers within the team.
- Prepare and review professional reports and formulate recommendation on complex Planning and related proposals for decision to the Planning Committee or by way of delegated process
- Dealing with problems and other contentious issues as they arise.
To be successful in this role you would need to have the below skills & experience:

- Knowledge of current Town and Country planning, practice, procedures, and legislation, in one or more areas; within planning, enforcement, policy or development control
- Ability to organise workload, to establish priorities for action, and to carry out the necessary work to a high quality within given deadlines
- Physically able to undertake site visits out of office and to inspect developed and underdeveloped sites safely
- Ability to use the council's computer databases, software packages and mobile communications to input, update and investigate records and files and to prepare reports for publication
- Planning Degree or equivalent qualification accredited to RTPI
- 3-5 years' experience in this role)
