We are looking for people with a “Can do Attitude” to come and join our bank portering team at Scunthorpe General Hospital who can work on positive Covid-19 areas. You will receive full training for the role of a porter.

The role of a porter can be demanding, and requires flexibility to support us during periods of operational pressures, so if you believe you have the physical agility to conduct patient, equipment and material moves around the hospital site, and can demonstrate our values, Kindness, Courage and Respect we would like to hear from you.

Your role will involve working within a team to provide a high quality Porter Service which offers a timely, responsive and pro-active system for the movement of patients, materials and equipment within the Site and undertake a number of other specified support and ancillary tasks as per the requirements of the service.

Your role will assist the service in providing an efficient, flexible and customer focused porter service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across all sites, which will provide a comprehensive, planned and reactive Porter Service that is reliable, helpful, efficient and responsive to the needs of Patients, Trust staff and visitors.

You will accept and undertake work allocated through the task management system using a hand held device, which will involve such tasks as patient movement, distribution, stores, furniture, equipment, pharmacy, meals, pathology items, blood products, waste, movement of deceased, confidential waste, post and laundry around the Hospital site as required.

There is a 6-8 week training period where you will be expected to be available to work Monday to Friday, various shift hours covering 24 hours. following the training period and after working independently for a period of time, then we would look to place you into a contracted position dependent on availability. We currently have a number of 22.5hr contracted positions available, with option for additional shifts.
