**About the Role**:
An opportunity has arisen at our Kennedy Way Medical Centre for a Prescription Clerk, the post will form part of our busy Prescribing Team at the heart of our patient care service

The role is offered on a part time basis for 15 hours per week.

The main duties include:

- Produce prescriptions for the GP to sign in an acceptable timeframe
- Ensure all prescription requests are processed and are ready for collection within a 48-hour timeframe
- Generate requests for medication on behalf of the patient for non-repeat items
- Actively encourage patients to reconcile medications to facilitate monthly collections
- Discuss with patients their requirements, encouraging patients to order only what they require
- Act upon compliance issues, liaising with the appropriate clinician
- Ensure medication reviews are arranged by maintain an accurate recall system
- Effectively liaise with external services i.e. district nurses to ensure medicaments are arranged for housebound patients
- Input data into the patient’s healthcare records as necessary
- Deal with all prescription related enquiries in a timely manner
- Record and reported adverse effects accurately and appropriately, informing the practice manager immediately
- Read code data on SystmOne
- Carry out system searches as requested
- Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Answering medication queries from patients, staff members and pharmacies/care homes
- Promotion of electronic repeat dispensing and online ordering
- Ensure safe and appropriate storage of medicines
- Manage prescription requests from vulnerable/high priority patients and care home Residents
- Liaise with pharmacies on the supply of prescribed drugs, alert clinicians of any supply issues and forward information on the recommended alternative
- Keep up to date with the Practice’s formulary and the National Restricted Drugs List
- Run analysis reports and gather information from a variety of sources for continuous improvement, safe management of repeat prescriptions, and to co-ordinate medication reviews and or changes
- Complete the end of month returns for prescriptions inc FP34
- Process and run reports using ECLIPSE data
- Manage the upload/download of ECLIPSE data

- Experience as a prescription clerk
- Flexible with a positive attitude.
- Experience of working in a healthcare setting
- Good team working and communication skills and an excellent standard of patient care.
- General Practice experience and knowledge of_ SystmOne_ would be an advantage.

The practice has a great clinical support team in place including experienced and knowledgeable GPs, ANPs, practice nurses, HCAs, and clinical pharmacists combined with an experienced management team.

Our combined list size for all sites is just over 31,000; we use SystmOne.
