The Quality Matron will provide visible, accessible, effective transformational leadership to wards and departments within their sphere of responsibility, delivering Trust strategic objectives and Matron’s 10 Key Responsibilities as set out in ‘Modern Matrons - Improving the Patient Experience (DH, 2003)’ supplemented by the ‘Matrons Handbook’ (NHSEI 2019)

Quality Matrons will work with other Matron colleagues, Ward Sisters and Charge Nurses, Senior Nurses and Clinical Leads, Business Managers and other colleagues to identify service and strategy developments which aim to deliver the highest quality of patient care, and maintain patient safety, in line with Trust aims and objectives.

This will be achieved by supporting Ward teams and clinical area Nurse Managers in the development and delivery of their ward assurance achievements and ongoing improvement plans.

The role will require a proactive involvement in the delivery of the organisational Quality Improvement strategy.
