Low Loader Driver

This position works within the Transport department where you will be required to drive Low Loader, step frame, curtain and flat HGV vehicles, delivering various items of plant & equipment to sites and external customers. You will be responsible for supervising the loading of vehicles to ensure that all plant & equipment are loaded safely and are secured adequately for transit and to minimise the chances of damage.
The role will require you to have regular contact with site personnel and provide exceptional customer service, whilst ensuring that all plant & equipment arrives at the delivery site safely.
**Key Responsibilities and accountabilities**:
- Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law
- Drive within tachograph laws and driver hour limits
- Comply with fuel directives issued by the Transport Manager
- Maintain the cleanliness of the driving cab
- Ensure that on arrival the delivery is safe to make and respect site rules/customer’s property; if in doubt, consult with site staff/customer and/or Transport Manager
- Check goods off with sites and obtain signature and print
- Handle customer issues on delivery effectively and contact Transport Manager for assistance if required
- If any errors/damage mark ticket accordingly and consult with Transport Manager
- Report any accidents as soon as possible and in compliance with the company’s accident reporting procedure
- Complete vehicle daily inspection sheet and give to Transport Manager
- Provide excellent customer service at all times
- Be aware of the vehicle inspection rota for servicing and MOT and bring to the attention of the Transport Manager if necessary
- Expect nights out during the week
- Attend essential training in order to carry out your role
- To provide support in the Yard as required by the Yard Manager
**Essential Qualifications/Desired Work Experience**:
- Hold a full clean LGV (Class 1) Licence
- Have a valid Driver Qualification card (DCPC)
- To own a valid Digital Tachograph card
**Additional Skills and Qualities**:
- Heavy Haulage Experience an advantage
- Be physically active due to the nature of the role
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism
Pay: £12.00-£20.00 per hour
