Poole, United Kingdom RNLI Full time

Vehicle
- A vehicle will be made available to carry out your duties
- Contract type
- Permanent
- Hours
- Full Time
- Location
- Poole, Dorset, England
- Location description
- This role is Poole based, however the flexibility to work from home is available.**About us**:
The RNLI is a charity that provides a 24-hour rescue service in the UK and Ireland, seasonal lifeguards, and flood rescue response. Volunteers make up 95% of our organisation; supported by expert staff, all working together to help communities at home and abroad save lives. RNLI crews and lifeguards have saved over 142,700 lives since 1824.

As a professional lifesaving service, we have complex legal and regulatory requirements guiding how we run our services and how we keep people safe. We are committed to building robust levels of assurance that ensure these standards are being met in both operational and non-operational settings. To further this, we are now establishing an additional level of assurance that will sit independently of all RNLI departments. This will be led and managed by a new function called Safety and Independent Assurance. This will mean we create a distinction between where standards are set, where the delivery happens against those standards, and how we assure delivery.

We’re looking for an Operations Independent Assurance Lead to join our Independent Assurance Team who’s remit will cover all lifesaving activity delivered by lifeguards and lifeboat crew. The Independent Assurance Team will support the RNLI through working collaboratively with Directors and associated teams in sharing outputs of specific audits, identifying key risks from trends, highlighting best practice opportunities identified and discussing and responding where appropriate to specific risk-based reactive needs. This is an exciting opportunity to join a new team in a thriving organisation and influence independent assurance activities across all areas of the charity.

**Some of the benefits**:

- Salary £37,642 - £44,285 (dependent on experience)
- Flexible working
- 26 days’ annual leave plus Bank Holidays
- Outstanding pension scheme (contributions of up to 16% of basic salary)
- Life assurance
- Health and dental cashplan

**Your Role**:
As an Operations Independent Assurance Lead, you will be tasked with focus on the following areas:

- Delivery of line 3 independent assurance audits across operational processes and activities
- Within the audit procedure, promoting a culture of openness and learning by gaining knowledge from those who do the work, including auditees throughout the process, and engaging and coaching teams to develop findings and co-design recommendations for improvement.
- Producing high-quality audit reports that identify areas of risk, non-compliance, and excellence.
- Effectively employ a range of assurance tactics including desktop reviews of RNLI systems and documentation, data trawls, focus groups, interviews, and direct observations to ensure a rounded assessment of evidence.

**About You**:
You’ll be good at relationship building and have a thorough understanding of quality assurance processes. You will need to promote learning and contribute to culture change around the way that independent assurance is viewed in the organisation. To be considered as the Operations Independent Assurance Lead you will need:

- Experience of implementing, delivering and maintaining operational assurance and compliance
- Outstanding communication skills to promote and deliver an inclusive approach to assurance activities
- A resilient mindset and problem-solving approach to identify the root cause of an issue
- To be detail focused and provide high quality, detailed written reports and communications
- Experience in driving continuous improvement

So, if you have a resilient mindset and the desire to promote learning and change through a new team at an established institution and want to see how this role supports our organisation’s aim to reduce drowning. This could be the role for you

This is not an operational seagoing position, however due to the nature of the role, it is highly desirable, but not essential, that the post holder be operationally seagoing and as such capable of going afloat in all sea conditions. It is therefore desirable for the individual to hold a valid RNLI Operational Seagoing Health Assessment and continue to meet the RNLI physical fitness standards, medical standards set for these roles and core competencies set for going afloat throughout their time within this post.

This post requires a valid driving licence.

**Safeguarding**:
The RNLI is committed to safeguarding; ensuring the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk. We expect all employees and volunteers to share this commitment and have a zero tolerance approach to proven incidents of bullying, abuse, harassment or exploitation. The suitability of all prospective employees and volunteers will be assessed during the recruitment
