**Based in Birmingham with travel required to various site locations across the HS2 line of route where necessary.**
At HS2 we offer a two-year rotational graduate programme, providing you with the opportunity to stretch and challenge yourself across various topic specialist related placements. This programme is designed around enabling you to get as much environmental experience as possible across different teams within HS2. After completion of the 2-year graduate programme graduates will be transferred into a role within the same discipline, but not necessarily the same business area.

The role will cover supporting the Environmental Sciences team, working in collaboration with the supply chain as well as HS2 colleagues to ensure commitments relating to carbon emissions, waste, noise & vibration, air quality and climate change are delivered.
The role will include working with a wide range of stakeholders including contractors and government decision and policy makers.

The **Technical Services Delivery Directorate **is to specify and assure an integrated railway that is built safely, works for people and the environment, delivering the HS2 railway as a legacy for the country and our industry. The directorate acts as the technical authority maintaining (professional) standards, specifying requirements, and assuring outcomes both in construction and operation

The **Technical Services Environment and Town Planning (E&TP) Team **act as the project’s guardian of the environment through the development, delivery, maintenance, and operational processes of HS2. The team ensures that HS2 Ltd meets its commitment to deliver a sustainable outcome. You will be working with our environmental topic specialists across areas such as sustainability, carbon & climate change, water resources, ecology, noise, historic environment, waste, agriculture, land quality, air quality, socio economics, landscape design and Town and Country Planning.
The **Phase 2b Team **is responsible for managing the delivery of the design, sustainability, and environmental assessment ( including the production of the Environmental Statement (ES)) to support the approvals process. The role would typically include working collaboratively with other technical specialists including engineers, construction experts, architects, and the HS2 TS Team to deliver design and mitigation solutions for the scheme. Your role would also involve helping manage consultants who are commissioned to undertake the work and to review their outputs including the ES documents ready for submission to Parliament.

The **Hybrid Bill Technical Team **is responsible for producing the technical evidence for engineering and environment to support Petition Management, Land and Property, King’s Counsel, and Expert Witnesses in supporting the passage of the hybrid Bill through Parliament to gain consent. You will be responsible for assisting in the development of the environmental deliverables and ensuring the outcomes of the hybrid Bill process are documented.

The **Phase 2a Team **is responsible for delivery of the Phase 2a programme of works. This will be delivered through a variety of contracts covering ground investigations, early environmental mitigation, enabling, and advanced civils works, utilities, main civils works and rail systems. Your role would involve supporting the management of these contractors and works in accordance with the environment and sustainability objectives and requirements of the project. This would include ensuring the environmental and sustainability requirements are understood and are being met by the contractors, review of deliverables, liaison with environmental stakeholders, identification of risks and opportunities, environmental communications, and reporting.
