**Overview of project/role**
- You will be required to supervise typically 15-20 staff at a local level, deputise for your immediate superior and undertake such responsibilities that may be required. You must be familiar with project based work and work carried out in TMU.

**Key Accountabilities**
- To supervise staff in the day-to day performance of their duties to ensure that work programmes are met.
- To deputise for his/her immediate supervisor during periods of absence
- To manufacture / overhaul work as required at the directive of his/her supervisor
- To drive Workshops vehicles as may be required
- To assist other staff in the production of work as required
- To complete all paperwork and reports as required
- To ensure that the work area and all plant and equipment are maintained in a clean, tidy and safe condition
- To take responsibility for protection of themselves and other staff when working on or about the railway
- Direct and control staff to comply with safety, quality and productivity standards
- Understand Customer Requirement Documentation and Delivery times and specify manpower and resources required to comply
- Able to liaise with contractors, customers and technical staff to minimise disruption to operations
- Carry out electrical testing/mechanical testing when required.

**Knowledge, Skills & Experience**

Knowledge:

- The jobholder must have served an appropriate craft apprenticeship or have the equivalent technical knowledge and relevant practical experience and must be able to demonstrate sound man management skills.
- Must be physically fit and reaching LT medical standards of fitness as appropriate to the job.
- Possess a thorough knowledge and understanding of rules and regulations relating to the job and ability to execute them.
- Ability to demonstrate full understanding of all work processes under his/her control.
- Ability to use all equipment/tools required for work processes, including testing equipment.
- Ability to specify and requisition parts required to achieve target output.
- Ability to instruct/coach/counsel/brief staff on processes and methods under his/her control.
- Ability to inspect to specified standards using quality plans, working instructions, specifications etc.
- Ability to understand and operate the Management Systems in use within the Workshops.
- Ability to comprehend LUL practices on smoking, alcohol, drugs and attendance to duty and must comply with them.
- Ability to communicate effectively with managers, other members of staff and customer
