We are looking for a Specialist Paediatric Audiologist.

The assessment, diagnosis, habilitation and rehabilitation of children referred to our service (from infancy to young adulthood).

You will be responsible for a broad range of clinical activities; the great majority of which are complex and demand a high degree of individual responsibility.

You will also be involved in teaching & training, clinical & administrative audits and research.

The post-holder will be expected to maintain high clinical and professional standards at all times.

They will also be involved in service development and will be expected to be adaptive to change.
- Perform diagnostic hearing assessment on children up to 18 years of age and analyse the results (in line with national and local protocols), including: - Pure Tone Audiometry (PTA)
- Visual Reinforcement Audiometry (VRA)
- Performance testing
- Speech discrimination testing
- Otoscopy
- Tests of middle ear function using tympanometry
- Otoacoustic Emissions
- Take accurate and safe impressions of the ear following BSA recommended procedures for impression taking.
- Arrange referral to other professionals for treatment/management when required, following local and national guidance. E.g. referring to ENT for management of middle ear effusion.
- Manage hearing loss in infants and children
- Review and monitor hearing in line with national and local protocols
- Dispense, fit and maintain digital hearing aids, using MCHAS guidelines national BSA and local protocols.
- use probe microphone measurements to verify hearing aids to prescription targets
- carry out reviews with hearing aid users
- audiological habilitation/rehabilitation
- use of outcome measures to support and guide habilitation/rehabilitation
- Actively participate in departmental research as required
- Participation in audits, developing and using measures of audiological practice and presentation of results within the department.
- Where necessary monitor departmental protocols for various procedures
- Support the education and training of staff and students in the department.
