Band 4 Nuclear Medicine Specialist Receptionist

This is a part-time post for 12 hours per week (Monday-Friday mornings).

The post-holder will be part of a team providing a comprehensive administrative and secretarial service to the Nuclear Medicine department, as part of the medical Physics and Clinical Engineering department.

The nuclear medicine team provide diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radioactive materials.

A significant part of this role will be answering queries and arranging patient appointments/ admissions.

This will involve communicating with clinical teams from various medical institutions, the patients, andwithin the nuclear medicine team.

Extensive use of electronic patient record system (EPR) and other associated systems.

1. Responsible for prioritisation of own workload for department.

2. Act as part of team tracking medical records, answering queries and arranging patient appointments/ admissions where necessary. Extensive use of electronic patient record system (EPR) and other associated systems.

3. Responsible for providing non-clinical advice to patients and relatives as and when required as far as scheduling appointments is concerned.

4. Typing of agendas, minutes and assisting in preparing presentations if required. Photocopying and distributing where/when necessary.

5. To be responsible for coordinating non-radioactive stock control and departmental ordering and purchasing systems in line with Trust procurement policies.

6. To be responsible for maintain accurate high quality records and storage of data within the department. To contribute to the statistical analysis of the work of the section as required. These relate mainly to the performance and work-load of the section, but may be related to financial matters and procedure costings, etc.

7. To contribute to the implementation and management of new systems and initiatives within their department where applicable.

8. To contribute to the training of other staff where applicable.

9. Responsible for creating and implementing departmental processes and procedures where they are related to the Quality Management system, in conjunction with the section leads.

10. Exercise independent judgement and initiative when problems arise by taking appropriate action to resolve them.
