**Building Inspector - Hampshire / Wiltshire region**

Working in the Rail sector, managing the Building and Station portfolio across Southern England, controlling the asset maintenance and upkeep.

**Location**:

- Basingstoke (M3 Corridor) Hybrid working

**Salary**: £40,000 - £46,000 basic + £3,200 Travel allowance + Package

**Role**:
The Resolute Group have been retained by a key Rail client to secure a Building Surveyor that has focused their career on Asset management. This role is looking after the Rail building in and around the London region. Looking at the asset life span, inspectionsand updating the asset register as inspections happen.

Having a building background is key as all the work is around buildings and property, so understanding what to identify as potential issues is key. Anything from cracks to the extremes of subsidence of a structure, monitoring not only the existing structuresbut there for the refurbishments or new building works that maybe being completed.

Working as part of a team of Engineers you maybe just focused on daily inspections and the upkeep or you could be assigned to capital projects inspecting new assets and building work being carried out. Full training is provided on the systems being usedand how the asset team operate as within the Rail industry there are various standards that need to be adhered to.

Day to day duties will vary but could include:

- Manage the asset data and information within the company systems and processes.
- Manage the specification and development of specific enhancement schemes, reviewing the proposals from other disciplines or external organisations that could impact on the asset.
- Develop and improve relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.
- Collaboration and communication with other functions (inside/outside the department) to ensure safe and sustainable management of assets (property and buildings) as part of our asset management processes.
- Provide engineering support and participate in investigations of incidents relating to Railway property or buildings.
- Manage the production of property or building asset maintenance recommendations following inspections with defects being reported.
- Review the complete data of safety-critical work reports to confirm the activity has been completed to the correct standard.

**Required Experience**:

- You need to be either an Apprentice trained in a construction trade or have a HNC / HND / Degree in Building Surveying.
- Working towards MRICS status or already achieved it as you need this to gain promotion to a Senior Asset Surveyor.
- Building Inspecting experience - used to inspections / update asset registers and handling issues once reported.
